A Drone and Pyrotechnics Show Lights Up the Skies Over Riga as the 2026 Rallycross Champions Are Crowned at Biķernieki

With packed grandstands, decisive battles on track, and a spectacular drone and pyrotechnics show above Biķernieki, the 2026 Latvian-Lithuanian and Baltic Rallycross season has come to a close. On Saturday evening, the “LV BET Night Rallycross” transformed the Biķernieki circuit into the epicentre of a motorsport celebration, where roaring engines, night racing and a spectacular light show created an atmosphere that spectators compared to a major city festival.
This year marked the fifth edition of Night Rallycross at Biķernieki, with around one hundred drivers taking to the track for the season finale. Throughout the day, spectators enjoyed qualifying and final races, freestyle motocross and buggy shows, while the evening culminated in a spectacular drone and pyrotechnics performance lighting up the skies above Biķernieki.
“Absolutely incredible, it was spectacular! The spectators in Grandstand A definitely had the most impressive view. It was a true celebration and an unforgettable experience,” spectators shared enthusiastically after the event.
As the drones rose above the circuit and began forming images inspired by motorsport and Riga in the night sky, an emotional silence fell over the packed grandstands. The drone show offered an entirely different experience from the familiar noise and speed of racing. It was a visual performance that spectators watched almost like a concert, immersing themselves in a story created through light, music and movement. The pyrotechnic elements at the end of the evening brought back the power and explosive energy, bringing the rallycross season to a spectacular close.
Championship Titles Decided in the Final Races
While a festive atmosphere prevailed beyond the track, the stakes on it could hardly have been higher. Biķernieki marked the conclusion of the six-round Latvian-Lithuanian Rallycross Championship season, with the championship titles in several classes decided only at the final round.
In the BMW RX 3000 class, Lithuania’s Lukas Sidabras completed an impressive season with 194 points. Jānis Olle finished second overall with 161 points, while Helmuts Bartkevičs took third with 151 points. Sidabras demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout the season, scoring maximum or near-maximum points at several rounds.
The LADA RX class delivered a true season-long thriller. Going into the decisive round, Rolands Bružāns and Niks Mežiņš were separated by only a narrow margin, and after the final battle just two points separated them in the championship standings. Bružāns finished the season with 166 points to claim the championship title, while Mežiņš took second with 164 points. Niks Cīnītis finished third with 127 points.
In the Super 2000 class, Lenards Lepsis was crowned the 2026 champion, finishing the season with 182 points. At the decisive Biķernieki round, he added the maximum 35 points to his tally. The battle for the remaining positions was exceptionally close: Varis Zentiņš and Miks Gabrāns both finished the season with 153 points, while Kristaps Kasparovičs followed closely with 151 points.
In Super 1600, Valdas Mikužis finished at the top of the season standings with 165 points, ahead of Rītis Rutkauskas, who collected 144 points.
Jēkabs Martinovs dominated the Yaris 1000 season. In each of his five counting rounds, he scored the maximum 35 points, finishing the season with a total of 175 points. Magnuss Baumanis took second place with 140 points, while Armands Krivenkovs finished third with 127 points.
The Cross Car championship proved particularly intense. After six rounds, just three points separated the top three drivers. Lithuania’s Kernius Šulinskas became champion with 174 points, followed by Adrians Apsītis with 172 and Roberts Purmalis with 171. Purmalis scored 33 points and won the final round of the season, but it was not enough to overtake his two rivals in the overall championship standings.
In Cross Car Junior, Everts Grava finished the season in first place with 177 points, including the maximum 35 points at the Biķernieki round. Klāvs Žvagins took second with 151 points, while Patrīcija Neikšāne completed the championship top three with 131 points.
In the Cross Car Mini Cup, Marians Bērzkalns claimed the title with 179 points. Marta Skusta finished the season with 169 points, while Gustavs Korņejevs and Kaspars Kazemeks both scored 162 points.
Special Awards Presented at the Season Finale
Several special awards were also presented during the season finale at Biķernieki, recognising not only the drivers’ performances on track but also their skill, personality and contribution to the unique atmosphere of rallycross.
BMW RX 3000 driver Kristaps Kronbergs was crowned the “Sky Power Start King”, receiving the title together with a €1,000 cash prize.
The “MKM Mežs Supercharge” award went to the top three drivers in the Supercar class: Bruno Blumbergs, Mārcis Martinovs and Kristaps Kasparovičs.
Special attention was also given to the Biķernieki Circuit 60th Anniversary Special Award, presented to three standout personalities in rallycross. The recipients were eight-year-old champion Marians Bērzkalns; BMW RX 3000 driver Helmuts Bartkevičs, recognised not only for his talent on track but also for his entertaining personality and ability to create a great atmosphere; and Bruno Blumbergs, winner of the most powerful class.
