Event organiser Jānis Bergs emphasizes that this is the most ambitious rallycross event his team has organized in Latvia to date: “It is a great pleasure and satisfaction to organize an event of this scale. The entire team is highly motivated, and teamwork is the foundation of this event. We are especially pleased with the strong line-up of participants, including drivers from the Baltics and Latvia, promising exciting battles on track. We invite everyone to the opening event and to experience rallycross in Biķernieki on Saturday and Sunday – interest is very high and tickets are selling fast.”
“The FIA European Rallycross Championship round in Latvia is one of the most significant motorsport events in our region and an important part of the European motorsport calendar. It not only brings together top-level drivers and teams but also demonstrates Latvia’s ability to host international-scale competitions. There are several strong rallycross host countries in our region with long-standing experience and high organizational standards, making the competition intense and each event a mark of quality. That is why rallycross returning to Latvia after a break is particularly significant for both the motorsport community and fans,” says Linda Medne, Secretary General of the Latvian Automobile Federation.
She adds that rallycross, as a dynamic and spectator-friendly discipline, holds an important place in the broader motorsport arena. This championship serves as a platform where emerging talents meet experienced drivers, attracting top competitors while inspiring younger generations to get involved in motorsport. “We are proud to be part of this international motorsport community and to continue strengthening Latvia’s position on the European and global motorsport map,” emphasizes L. Medne.
The national significance of the event is also highlighted by Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis, noting that the FIA European Rallycross Championship round in Riga will be an exciting event attracting both local and international motorsport enthusiasts: “Events of this level are an excellent platform for promoting Latvia internationally, showcasing our strengths – from well-developed infrastructure to a welcoming environment and professional event organization. Equally important, such events strengthen Latvia’s reputation as a motorsport destination, attract tourists, support local businesses and inspire greater involvement in motorsport.”
Ticket sales data shows that a significant share of visitors will arrive from abroad, demonstrating the event’s international appeal. The organization of the event has also received substantial support from the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) through its export promotion and national image-building programme, which enhances Latvia’s international visibility, strengthens competitiveness and helps attract high value-added events.
